The Hindu culture is an amalgamation of spiritual beliefs, ethnic values and various historical marvels that have significant importance in Hindu mythology. No aspect of the existence of a Hindu is devoid of such beliefs or cultural values. Even a pilgrimage to a sacred destination is bound by virtues of spirituality and salvation. Our Chardham Yatra takes you on a spiritual journey to four sacred pilgrimage sites that are believed to be the source of ‘Moksha’. Hindus strongly believe that a visit to the Chardham or the four abodes provides salvation by relieving a person from all ill-doings and leading to spiritual awakening. The four abodes include Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath.
Yamunotri; dominated by the mountain massifs of Bandarpunch, is the westernmost shrine of the Chardham. Yamunotri is primarily known as the source of river Yamuna who has been famously avowed as the twin sister of Varna, the God of Death in the Hindu mythology. The actual source of river Yamuna, the daughter of Sun, originates from the Champasar Glacier located towards the head of the shrine.
Gangotri is famously known as the source of river Ganga. According to Hindu mythology, the river Ganga descended on earth from heaven to liberate humans from their sins and cycle of karma. The river originates from the Gomukh, located in Gangotri. Legend has it that a rigorous meditation by the rishi Bhagirath made Ganga descend towards earth. Hence, the river Ganga is also known as Bhagirathi. Lord Shiva tied river Ganga into his kesh and redistributed the holy water of the river into numerous streams to save earth from the mighty force of river Ganga.
Located in Chamoli, Uttarakhand; Badrinath is a divine Hindu temple devoted to Lord Vishnu. Backed by the Neelkanth Peak from one side and the Nar - Narayan peaks on the other side, the temple is an emblem of mesmerizing beauty and transcendental experiences. The salubrious atmosphere of the temple fills every soul with peace, serenity, and spirituality. The temple has many mythological tales associated with it. As you reach the temple, you will feel a sense of elation and spiritual awakening.
Located in the Rudraprayag region of Uttarakhand, Kedarnath is among the 12 jyotirlingas symbolizing Lord Shiva. Legend has it that the Kedarnath temple was visited by the Pandavas (from the famous Mahabharata) after the Kurukshetra war to seek blessings and redemption from Lord Shiva. Many other legends are associated with the origin of Kedarnath Temple. All the devotees and visitors feel a sense of ecstasy amidst the powerful yet serene ambiance of the temple.
